Undergraduate Research Advising

Each summer I advise undergraduate students through the AstroCom NYC Program at the City University of New York and through the National Science Foundation REU program. Students spend the summer working on a new research topic and present their results at the American Asronomical Society Winter Meeting. If you are interested in spending a summer carrying out research with me, please reach out!

Science Research Mentoring Program

Since coming to the American Museum of Natural History, I have been a Research Mentor in the Science Research Mentoring Program (SRMP). This involves mentoring three high-school students throughout the school year to complete a research project. Students learn a wide array of research skills, while strengthening their sense of community with their fellow SRMP peers and museum scientists. If you are interested in this program you can learn more here.

After School Program at AMNH

The American Museum of Natural History provides an After School Program for high-school students, which gives them the opportunity to explore new topics in a supportive and exciting environment. From 2018-2019 I developed and delivered two courses on Stars as part of this program. The course is designed to cover the lifetime of stars, from birth to death, through the use of hands-on activities and problem-solving.

Public Talks

I am also eager to bring my science to the general public through talks and events. I have spoken at the Pint of Science Festival, Astronomy on Tap, the Royal Observatory of Edinburgh Winter Talk Series and visited schools and astronomy clubs to share my work.
